This year the Daejeon Museum of Art had the pleasure of receiving the generous gift of thirty paintings from celebrated Korean Colour-Field painter Yoo Hee Young. Born in Seocheon, South Chungcheong province, but with long ties to Daejeon £¿£¿ he primarily grew up here in Daejeon until his graduation from Daejeon High School £¿£¿ Yoo decided to present the works to our museum in the hope that the pieces would be more appropriately cared for and, more importantly, that they¡¯d be variously utilized for education, research, and the exhibition of Korean art. Having chosen the donated pieces himself from amongst his oeuvre, this major selection of paintings comprises 6 works from the 1970s-80s; 9 works from the 1990s; 5 works from the 2000s; and 10 works from the 2010s and after.
